My dad is the one that got me started. We used to hunt around in some old farm dumps for whatever we could find to take home. He was/is not much of a collector, but did have a few bottles and some insulators. Best I can tell, I seriously started collecting both bottles and insulators about the age of 11. We used to go to the flea market and I would buy almost any old bottle I saw. About the age of 13 or 14 I met a couple collectors and Dad started taking me to bottle and insulator shows. Balto., York, Allentown, Maryland line, etc. This got me really hooked and into better insulators and bottles. I have not done much with insulators for a number of years. Still buy if something comes along, though. And 3 years ago I took Josh to Balto. It was just as I remember it from the last time I was there - probably around 1995 to 1997. Dad's not much for digging. Never was much, but he would drive me places. I am glad some of my kids are interested. I don't make them go. But they and Jessie dug most of this pit. I just stood in the shade, looked at the finds as they were passed up, and pulled a bucket from time to time. Yeah.... Good Times!
