    Photographing with a Light Box

Here's a link to some great information, It has really helped me improve my bottle photos using a light tent. http://alzodigital.com/photo_guide/tent_application_guide_white_background.htm#Adjusting%20the%20lights I actually made a light box following the instructions on this link...

    We Tried

Sure looks green back there. Still a nice walk in the woods and some cool finds. I never really get into the morels until the last saturday in april when I can fry them up with some brookies. Here's a haul of Morels from last year from around the Gaylord area.

    like a box of chocolats

Cool finds! But where are the morels? With all that Big Rapids stuff it looks like you may be around my neck of the woods, or at least where I grew up. Don't worry I don't want the secret location of your morel picking spot or where your digging, I live about 2,000 miles from there now! But...

My latest dump find mystery bottle....

Hey Woodswalker Looks like the type of bottles used by local bottlers of that era 1880's-1900's. Probably contained soda water, beer or even ginger ale. Don't think it would contain whiskey. Check out some old business directories from South Haven, and you'll probably come across a bottler...

    Hollander Bitters?

Hi kranked- Sounds like your listing came from Carlyn Ring and Bill Ham's book Bitters Bottles. http://www.bittersbottles.net/ LTC refers to the type of mouth a the bottle has, in this case Long Tapered Collar. As for the third line these are references to other books that list this...

    other cool things

Here's a drop forged paper weight anvil I dug. Pretty sure it was made in the ironworks of my hometown.

    Michigan Brick Linner

Nice to see a few Michiganders on here, great beers. Not sure about the Pure Food embossing, maybe because of the Sanitarium Movement taking place at that time? Anyway here's a couple of mine that might not have been so pure.

    Oyster change purse

Hi Bill, Nice finds, I think that shell box was used for snuff. How they mounted that hardware without breaking the shell is pretty amazing. really neat find.

    Great Day in the Dump...

Yes that's a nice shade, and it looks to be a earlier example, drippy lip on that one as well. Nice !

    Great Day in the Dump...

Hi Dan, That C.W Abbott's is a Bitters, a common one, but still a Bitters. Your example seems a nice lighter shade of amber than most I've seen. Love the crude lip on your Warner's. Nice finds all together.

Suggestions for Displaying in Earthquake Territory

Here's a photo of a few of my "junk" bottles I attached to a piece of plywood shelving with the museum gel. This stuff is a removable clear putty/gel that you can apply to the bottom of your bottles to stick them to your shelf. It comes off easily and can be used again. It's pretty cheap too...

    One-Room schoolhouse

Yeah, they are often overlooked. I wondered when someone was going to mention crawl spaces on here. When I was about 11 I had a nice old lady from our church bring me some bottles a repairman had found in the crawlspace under her house. Two Hagan's Magnolia Balms with labels, a Buckinghams...

    BAD ME!

Hey ajohn Here's one I dug years ago, it's damaged but it was already half-way to looking like this so I kept it. I put it up on the roof and turned it every few weeks, and at the end of the summer it looked like this. The glass itself is kinda satiny in texture, really odd. Makes a nice...
