I Haven't Been Digging or Posting Much Lately, but I look forward to doing so soon and I can't wait for the Baltimore Bottle show coming up in March. Here are a few items that I have currently listed on the Bay to help clean up and clean out what little I have left from digging in the past...
So this is what I have been doing for the past several months among other things. For those of you who have been concerned about the future, here is another viewpoint that you may not have heard of or considered. It is also a viewpoint that I subscribe to BTW, for those who maybe care what I...
Didn't want to horn in on another's post anymore than I had already done so I thought that I would start a new one. I am fine, and the reports of my death were greatly exagerated. I have been settling into my new locale and love it here, however I haven't had much time to dig. Actully, I have...
This is an interesting read and is relavent for all of us. I have just found a way to ship a non-domestic letter (a letter that goes from one person to another and not to a business, which is a corporation) for 2 cents not 44 cents. In other words you can send a regular letter for 2 cents. I...
Here are before and after pictures of a coin silver spoon that I found last week. I tumbled it and then I buffed it with fine steel wool. Looks a lot better now if you ask me. Also, with silver at over $40 an ounce, this spoon is worth nearly $20 in scrap value alone. You never know what you are...
Well, the site that has produced so well for over 2-1/2 years is finally winding down. I intend to spend more time in town digging the elusive 1870s and before privies. This site has been good to me but it's time to broaden my horizons. Will I go back? You betcha, just not as much as I have been...
Here are some stills from yesterday's dig. Some are firsts from this site. Some are just interesting and others are just bottles. Have a look...1st are 3 local sodas with Baltimore loop closures. One is shown dug in the 1st video posted earlier of me digging with my son, Kileigh.
Not only was it a great day of digging with my son, Kileigh, but we found some nice bottles too - Priceless!

While digging for bottles yesterday, I found this coat button that I thought was a Virginia 2 piece. After cleaning I saw the word Cadet and (A).M.I. (the "A" was missing but the M. and I. were clearly visible at the bottom. The only Cadet button that I have previously dug was a V.M.I. and this...
I haven't figured out how to post multiple pictures in the thread yet, so I guess I'll just have to do it this way.
Here is the 1st bottle still in the ground.
I found this cobalt blue master ink just about quitting time on Friday, It is not listed in the Faulkner's Ink book so I think that this one might have slipped through the cracks. It is only embossed on the bottom and is a quart sized beauty. It is embossed H.C. Hotchkiss, Lyons, NY. and has a...
There are 8 videos here. Had a pretty good day. Also, will post some stills a little later. Remember that I'm digging with one hand and taking the video with the other, so sometimes the bottles are out of frame. I did note one error although there are probably more. The Ayers bottle was made in...
Here's a few bottles cleaned up from Tuesday's dig.
1st is local medicine that I have never dug before. Logan-Tyree-Martin. I know that Tyree was the 1st black druggist in Staunton. The bottle should be pretty scarce. Unfortunately it has a small ding on the lip.
Not a whole lot of good bottles but had a great time bebore the snow arrived last night. Most of the snow has already melted so I expect to get out some this week.

Four days in the tumbler with 1500 grit makes this a much more desireable bottle. Thought that I would share this with you all. What I thought was citrine I am more likely now to call it a light honey amber. Still a stunning color.
Here are some photos from yesterday's dig. Kileigh and my wife showed up to see how I was doing but I had already finished and was filling in part of what I had dug so I don't have any pictures of him or my wife for that matter to show. What I do have are some interesting finds. The 1st is the...
