This bottle came after the Torpedo, the early Torpedo's had a pointed bottom then later became more rounded, this one is called a Bowling Pin for obvious reasons ,with the thickness of the glass, its an early one.
I just dug one from Toronto Ontario .
ya, The photo was so big it was off the end of my screen I didnt see the flat bottom.
There are some very early pontilled bowling pins (sometimes called ten pins). That one pictured is a later one.
Very nice find. Bottle is listed in Kovel's 11th edition as follows- CARL H. SCHULTZ, Pat. May 1868, New York, Ten-pin, Aqua, Blob top $60.00. As you know this is just a reference. If I owned it, I surely wouldn't sell it for that. Too hard to find early American torpedo's and ten-pins. That's definitely a keeper.
