I came across this one in my travels. I have seen many that are also embossed with "EMPIRE" on them but this one is not. I was wondering if this is an earlier example and if it is could you guys tell me about what year.
thanks,
Mike

Actually, your bottle is a bit later than the Congress and Empire bottles, and is circa 1885-1889.

Cindy, do you have a link or can you recomend a book for dating these. It's nice if I got a pre1885 cause of the Empire, but they're so confusing up that way with all the different wells. Thanks

Eric,
The best book, and the one I rely on, is Donald Tucker's Collector's Guide to the Saratoga Type Mineral Water bottles. His email is dtucker@gwi.net if you want to order a book - I think it was around $40.

Here are the two Empire Springs I have. Pertaining to the the C at center of each bottle, one is larger than the other. I had three of these at one time, and traded one off. Wish I had kept the other after I had got rid of it. It was only about half as dark as these two, and WAS solid bubbles from top to bottom.

LC -
There are numerous different block "C" variations -- and also many different base marks including dots, crosses, lines, squares, circles, and numbers. I'll see if I can find some pictures of my Congress and Empire bottles and post....

Here's an olive green Congress and Empire quart - probably blown at Mt. Pleasant, and thus "mountain glass."
