Cool metal torpedo bottle

Found this in the river the other day, pretty cool huh? I looked around for a rock to bang it against and knock off some of that rust, but I couldn't find one.

Cool! It looks like one of those bombs the WW1 pilots kept in their lap and hurled at the enemy with their hand..

That's pretty close, although I think it's newer than that. I'm pretty sure it's an unexploded 81mm mortar round. The state police bomb squad is going to be dealing with it on Monday.

Hey Sean, Any ideas on how it got there. Could it have been used in a crime like A bank robbery, carjacking, ?? Really how does that get in the water in the first place.

WWII practice bomb, if you look real close there is about a ¾ inch hole all the way through it from nose to tail. Clean it up and keep it.
