It's good for us to try this once in a while.. remember, it gets erased if it gets out of hand, and sometimes it does.. but so far we are aware of the potential mess we could end up with if people start talking ..too loud.. if you know what I mean.. we are of all political angles here, this ain't "www.republican-antique-bottles.net" and it ain't none of the others neither.. we are an amalgamation of people unified by a hobby. Remember there's plenty of members here that don't even live here.. I mean America, sorry to be so self-absorbed I was born this way.. but seriously can't we talk about other junk besides bottles without someone getting 911ed over it? Let's see what happens and if y'all get icky I'm snippin it in the spud.. [:)]

I believe the republicans will win cause big business pays its prostitues very very welll...the dem. prostitutes don't get as much cause they act to much like they can't be bought off and are agaist such things..whereas the rep. proudly push the big money agendas...

Hey Jamie,

I feel ya. Can we have a little equal time for President Obama, please. I wish I could find some contemporary tallies for The President, but alas that doesn't seem to be readily available. Remember these figures from Mr. Obama's 2008 Campaign:

"BARACK OBAMA (D)
Top Contributors
This table lists the top donors to this candidate in the 2008 election cycle. The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organization's PAC, its individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates.

University of California $1,648,685
Goldman Sachs $1,013,091
Harvard University $864,654
Microsoft Corp $852,167
Google Inc $814,540
JPMorgan Chase & Co $808,799
Citigroup Inc $736,771
Time Warner $624,618
Sidley Austin LLP $600,298
Stanford University $595,716
National Amusements Inc $563,798
Wilmerhale Llp $550,168
Skadden, Arps et al $543,539
Columbia University $541,002
UBS AG $532,674
IBM Corp $532,372
General Electric $529,855
US Government $517,908
Morgan Stanley $512,232
Latham & Watkins $503,295"

Gee, Merck seems like mere pikers, wouldn't have made President Obama's 2008 Top Twenty.

Just to be clear on Merck and Governor Perry:

"The figure on donations from the company’s political action committee actually come closer to $30,000 over the time Perry’s been governor — (That's the past 11 years}

But as the Washington Post reports today, along with nearly $30,000 directly, Merck gave more than $355,000 to the Republican Governors Association in the years since Perry became prominent in the group. Perry was chairman of the RGA in 2008 and earlier this year, until he launched his presidential campaign." From.

I do like to kick about the political and social world from time to time. I believe such delicate matters can and should be discussed. There is no reason that they can't be discussed with a suitable level of decorum. Would you not agree?

I certainly don't want to offend anyone, nor engender any "hate and discontent" amongst any of the members. I do notice that these are days of discontent for many people. Me, too.

We're about to enter a political cycle that is sure to be the costliest in history. I'm sure we are going to witness tremendous negativity in ads and speech. There's gonna be a lot of the regular political brouhaha, only more so, I'm sure.

We all share a love for old bottles and glass. Can we not share and discuss the political without anyone becoming dreadfully offended, and resorting to down right Harry Reid meanness.?

I'm guilty of starting that "Those Pesky Relatives" thread, and we had some debate and rebutting. No one brought out the voodoo dolls, that I'm aware of. I've even got an old relative story that I haven't shared yet.

I'm also guilty of starting that deplorable Anthony Weiner thread. Remember how THAT turned out. Mara Liasson doesn't even mention Poor Anthony. The Washington Post certainly gave Anthony a nod.

Solyndra gets the John Stewart treatment. What other of Mr. Obama's green pipe dreams is gonna jump up next?

I hope that folks that get all apoplectic over political stuff, would seek the proper Apoplexy remedy, or avoid these kind of discussions all together.

In the immortal words of Rodney King... Let's all act like we respect one and other, but may differ from time to time on the details of something or other.

Just my Obama devalued 2 cents on the matter.
