Hello Everyone !

I could use some help IDing this bottle.
I am thinking of putting it up on Ebay but I'd like to know it's approx. worth and age. I know it's an open pontil, but what type of open pontil, or should I just use open pontil in the description ?

It says 'SHIRLEY'S UNIVERSAL RENOVATOR'
I've never seen one before, is it somewhat rare ?
Thank you for any and all info.

Hi Dave, and thank you for responding.
Maybe I'm just reading over it, but I can't find it on the page you linked.
I Googled it, but only saw it mentioned briefly, nothing about it's age or value.

Is this an iron pontil ?

I would decribe it as aqua rectangular with beveled corners and tapered shoulders with a taper applied top and a open pontil. Probably dates around 1850+/-.

Hey Calico, It is an open pontil made by a glass pontil rod. Open pontil should suffice for a description.

In Matt Knapp's book it is described as an open pontil, rectangular bottle with sloped shoulders, tapered lip, aqua color. It is valued at $77.

You might want to mention that the lip is also applied and the bottle has alot of whittling.

Glass pontils were in use by some glass houses into the late 1860s and for speciality glass even later. Like RoadDog stated 1850+/- would be a good bet.
