Finally found my first hutch! Was poking around underneath an old bridge that was having some work done to the foundation. Saw the top sticking out of the mud and figured that's all it was. But low and behold it came out whole! Probably common but it's in great shape!

Splendid find, I still remember quite vividly the first time I scratched a hutch out of the ground. After 2 random swipes with a gardening tool into an almost vertical ravine wall, out rolled my first personally dug hutchinson, which was a relatively scarce local piece too. I'll remember that humble find until the day I pass. Congratulations on your discovery, I hope that this is but the beginning of a wonderfully bottleiferous journey! [:)]

I can't read what town it is from, can you provide a transcription? Also, for your own sake, please go back to that bridge area and DIG! [:D] I've dug some old bridge dumps/deposits, and if you hit the right layers you can do very well. Sometimes the layers are comprised of junk used to reinforce the pilings or embankments, but in some spots you can hit zones with sodas/beers tossed "down the hill" by people congregating and hanging-out on either bank of the bridged creek/river. There's good potential in places like that.
