I don't have much beyond this picture and the person saying the bottle has a 2 inch (depression, probably a pontil mark) in the base. I'm trying to get more detailed info. Can any of you tell if it is new, old, etc...? Thanks for any help.
Hey Shane, it is a wine bottle. The base is probably a kick up, not a pontil scar. The kick up was used to catch sediment. I have dug many of these. Looks like it is in the 1870-1890 range. Hope this helps, Kelley
See if you can get them to send you a picture of the bottom to look at the pontil and also ask for a close-up of the neck to see if it has an applied lip. It looks like older "utility glass" syle whiskey or champange, or wine probably a safe bet that it is older..

Shane ask her for a straight on shot of the base, it is definatley a kick up base as gunsmoke said, also ask her if the band around the top shows any irregularities or if it is perfectly straight and symmetrical. If the band is straight and perfect it may be a newer bottle.. If it is crude then it is an applied lip and most likely older.
Looking at the base see if there is a circular ring of odd coloration as in an Iron deposit left from being blown see this site for better descriptions

Good Luck!

Here is a better shot of the upper band: She only sent me the one base shot, but that does look like either dirt or possibly an iron pontil mark. Also, part of the cork is still stuck in the top.
One more shot of the pontil? She said that the discoloration isn't dirt that she could remove and it has a dark, gray color to it. Sounds like iron pontil to me, but we'll see. The lip appears irregular. I went ahead and bid on and won the bottle just to eventually inspect it myself. Base shot:
