my brother-n-law bought a house that has a rundown outhouse on the property I dont know how long since it was used, my brother also has one. is it safe to dig in human waste...lol sounds pretty nasty to me...lol[:'(]

hey ya'll, I know this post is not as exciting as Suzanne's but I need to know before I dig in this thing, like how old would be safe to dig in, are they usually worth digging and what not...LOL[8D] help me out here..lol

I hear ya, so 50's 60's and 70's aint old enough no matter whats in it...lol

Pre 1900 is a good rule but up to 1920 could still be productive.If it's newer than that,NEXT!

My rule of thumb is if you can see the outhouse building run! Its to new.Probe around the area and see if you can find the (older ones).

Rick is mostly correct but some of my oldest pits were still standing structures. Built like a brick Sh*t house as some say. They do the test of time and go through the entire age depending on the town. The last one I dug started 1940's and went back all the way to the 1850s (still stainding brick Sh*t house). So with that said, if its a brick structure it could be very good if it goes deep

like I said both are rundown but still there. I will try talking to the neighbors and see if I can come up with something.. Thanks everyone

Hi you all, I just wanted to point out that old out houses bring big bucks at auctions.
Especially for the gentlemen farmers in Connecticut. Handle them with care!
