Hello cordilleran; To me a "gentleman farmer" is one of those city slikers that works for someone like AGI or who ever gives out big executive bonuses, and goes out into the rural countryside and buys a good size piece of dirt for a big house, barn and maybe a horse or two just to think he is a farmer. The outhouses these people buy at auctions in New York State and Pennsylvania and truck them to their back yard for a simulated conversation piece. Just part of the phoney balonnie and part of my opinionated views.. RED Matthews
We had an outhouse on my home place . It was still standing in the early eighties , and was in pretty good shape. A couple stopped in one day and asked my parents if they wanted to sell it. They thought they were crazy , but was glad to get rid of it . It was built in the late twenties . The couple said they were going to use it for a tool shed . It had the old half moon cut in or above the door , forget which now .
