Hello,
New to the forum (very cool idea, btw). I've attached a photo of a very old bottle I came across. It's not very large (I put a pen in the background for scale) and is definitely blown glass (huge pontil scar on the bottom). Could it have been for ink? Funny lip on it.

It looks more like a vase, albeit a stubby one... Could be an inkwell, I guess...

Dear Steve,

Welcome to the forum you old seadog!
What is interesting about the bottle it that the lip of the bottle is very similar to my broad arrow bottle ( military bottles) show in a previous posting. Does your bottle show a distinct pontil on the base. Can you see any mold mark ( 2 part mold)

Cheers

Hey Thierry,
Haven't you seen this bottle before at my place? It has a gorgeous pontil scar on the bottom (see photo)

Hi Steve,
Nice bottle !! If i remember you found this diving the narrow !!! I would venture that this is a medecine bottle or ink well. And as for the age not sure.

Hey Gilles,
Not sure where I found it (it was quite a while ago) but it's small size and delicate construction has always made it my favorite. I think it was for ink.
