Well I have three jas that had the thread cut in the mold neck and the blow pipe was just burs ted or broken off - leaving the top edge rough. With this done in canning jars, they ground the top of the finish - flat; for the rubber ring seal.

So I wanted to point out that if you go to page 12 in Michael Polaks, Second Edition;page 12 - you will see an illustration of Open and Closed Molds - where the finish is in the closed mold. I have read all of his books titled "BOTTLES"; and I give him a lot of credit for the strength of his teaching. RED Matthews
