Hello,

I picked up my first stoneware bottle yesterday. It's stamped on the shoulder, "H. HANLEY". I've done searches on google and the website with no luck. Does anyone know where this would have been made? I believe it to be a quart size. Anyone know the rarity/value?

thank you
-Kevin

Can't find any info. But, I think it's safe to say this isn't the Hanley who turned into the successful brewer in RI. It's too early for him.

Are you sure that is not H. Hancey? Not that it makes the research easier, but that is what I am seeing from the photos. Defintely a classic NE United States or Eastern Canadian bottle...where did you pick it up?

The L could be a C. That letter is ver faint.

I picked it up from the Raleigh fairgrounds from the Wilmington guys that had a huge find. There was so many bottles to look at I had a hard time deciding which to buy.

I had never seen a quart stoneware blob top bottle before. He didn't know the origins of the bottle either. Wilmington was a huge port back in the day, so it could be from anywhere.

A very common size here in the northeast, I only know of a handful of 'pints' from Paterson and the surrounding area... Nice find...[;)]
