I recently got this interesting little bottle from a forum member. It is a label only bottle from Pyle & Brother in Brooklyn. You can see the prescription was hand written as Quicksilver. Mercury was most commonly used in the 19th century as a treatment for syphilllis. The common saying was "spend one night on Venus and spend the rest of your life on Mercury" [] The bottle was found in the wall of an old apartment building. It appears to be flint glass and smooth base with a crude lip. I believe it was made during the 1860s. The cork has a wax seal from the company on the top.
