A friend sent me these photos for my opinion. Judging only by the pictures I guess 1840's is safe enough but I'm also thinking American, it's the shape of decanter that makes me think that. If it's American it would almost certainly be from the New England I believe. What's the opinion here...
Ran up on this early crock and like the jug know nothing about the name or where to start. Nice early form. [attachment=1097c.jpg][attachment=Plumb.jpg][attachment=1097b.jpg]
I came across this jug and it's the first one I've seen, can anyone here tell me about them. (Just b/c it's the first one I've seen doesn't mean much). It's stenciled on the top "Pat App'd For A.J. Weeks, Akron OH." Base reads "Mfg. by A.J. Weeks, Akron, OH", s tands about 11 inches...
R.T. Lacy had a side business in Talleysville, Va. (New Kent, Co.) which was named Baltimore Store. I was told he choose this name because the majority of his goods were bought in Baltimore and brought down by river boat to White House Landing. Talleysville was once a small collection of houses...
Came across a 1/2 gal bottle that looked like a Buffalo Girl today but wasn't. It is embossed MacGills (the s being underscored) / Strontia Mineral Water / Baltimore Co. Md. Looks like a picture of a building embossed between the lettering. Condisering picking it up but it's not from my neck of...
My oldest son picked won this in a estate auction lot with a vase he wanted that he was bidding on. The lot cost him $60, he was happy with his vase and when he saw this and figured I'd enjoy it. My best guess is an insurance agent give away, don't know where it hailed from but the story on the...
I haven't had the chance to hold either yet so I'm not sure about condition and they're not from my neck of the woods. Are these run of the mill ~ say 20-50?
1st jug
Anyone here have indepth knowledge about how to tell if a locomotive engineering drawing is old, repro or somewhere in between? Know where I can find a link showing pic's?
Not sure what to say as the only thing I know for sure is it's brass, marked US and dug by a uncle who passed several years ago who dug it up while planting a vegatable garden. Which leaves age? Any ideas?
My son recently was given several WWII Nazi & German souvenirs from a WWII veterans estate. One piece has me really stumped in trying to ID it. It's a coin or token, about the size of a nickel, I believe it's made of steel. One side is German "GEBIET DES OBERBEFEHLSHABERS OST" according to one...
I finished my little project on the Buffalo Girls of Mecklenburg,County, Va. and hope it will be shared soon to anyone interested in the bottles.
In my research I found a blurb that referenced Santa Anna was supposed to have once visited the Buffalo Lithia Springs Hotel (home to the bottled...
Kerr Lake / Buggs Island is where the old Buffalo Springs Hotel once sat before the Army Corps of engineers built Kerr Dam and flooded the area.

Bottled Products and the US Patent Office: Nineteenth Century by Eric McGuire, anybody know what it sells for or where I could a copy? Does he have a web page....Facebook etc?
I've been finding some great patent papers on different bottle closures closures, milk bottle tops and other bottle related items. Saw this and I would never have guessed right if someone had asked me.
There was an online estate auction a few days ago in a neighborhood that is trying hard not to give up the ghost to street drugs and all the destruction that comes along with that. I'm guessing the former owner cleaned houses for the city's better heeled society, the accumulation of life's...
