Thanks for looking,
What books would you recommend to someone new to the hobby that wants to learn about digging bottles? Books with tips on digging techniques, tools, where to look, what to look for etc.
I would also be interested in any books that show the different classes of bottles that were made and how to ID them.
Any good regional type books? I'm from NYC but also visit the Hudson Valley.
Thanks again,
TDNY

O'Dell's books are pretty good.

As far as dating and understanding glassmaking dont waste money.
Bill Lindsey's site is better than most books and its free... FREE...

Well I tried to start a message to you and then it went away. Guntherhess has given you one to the best am most complete information center for a bottle collector. It is just a fantastic source of information for learning and identifying.

I have a homepage with a section on Books in the top heading. At this point in time I no doubt have a good 50 or 60 books on bottles. I am beginning to think there are to many because it is hard to find what you are looking for. The books you need have to fit what you are looking for in your bottle quests.

My interest is in how they were made before 1900, AD.
You will learn a lot just checking out this ABN Forum each day.
Welcome aboard. RED Matthews

Hey TDNY,

Here's Bill Lindsey's Bottle Book Page. Unfortunately, most, if not all are not in stock now, but there's not a bad book in the bunch. I believe Bill will restock his book shelf one a these days. There's links back to his excellent site to keep you reading in the meantime.
