How do you explain this seam

Jim, I understand what your saying and didn't mean to disregard it. I am certain there is no residue on the bottle, no color changes or striations, it is in the glass itself. I had thought at first it had been dipped in clearcoat, but that is not the case, it is in the glass itself.

It's cool, man. Have you examined it under a magnifying glass, like 8x or better? I'd still try a black light, too.

Nothing under a black light. Under a loop the ground lines and swirls in the lip go right through the line.

It's obviously a great conservation piece. I wouldn't try and clean it, I like it as it is. I hate to think it might work and you can't put it back. IMO
If you do try an acid just try a drop on the outside bottom. Like the spot test they recommend for fabric cleaners.

Good idea, and also try other solvents as well, like alcohol, acetone, etc.
