    Great Shard!

That shard is awesome...I cry when I think of all the shards I chucked when I was a kid. I've recently been going back to dumps (if I can still find) after 35 yrs) and looking for them

Have you guys heard of this book?

i would agree, while I haven't read it. I've read a bunch of his privy posts, and he is knowledgeable and I find him actually very funny.

    Your Best Heartbreaker

What a great thread....I don't feel so bad after looking at all the pics (hstorical flasks, amazing colors, etc)..I have two stories: When I was a kid (in the 70's) another kid whose Dad did construction told me he had uncovered some glass on a job. I went there, saw the freshly raised...

    Digging in N. Dakota

Ok so CatKicker has a username that violates the PC sensibilities of some. But his job is harnessing the power of wind, which is totally PC. So I figger we're all good. (This observation reveals my inner Libra striving for balance!) Umm, can we get back to old bottles please?

Question re supporting this web site

Hi..I have gotten a lot from this site since I stumbled onto it a year or so ago. Would like to support it. I don't have a PayPal acct? Is opening one necessary for making a contribution? I am always leery about putting certain info out there into the ether. Thanks!

    Whiskey--Old Daugherty's Rye

Hi..Dug an early 1900's farm dump last weekend and found an Old Daugherty's Rye Whiskey, clear, pint size, screw top (rusty cap). I tossed it away, but there is some pretty impressive embossing on both sides..woman with long hair, stars..pretty fancy. Wondering if I should go back and get it...

    March 14 & 15 good digging

Mike--When I mentioned that I know the family whose name is on your stone beer, I realize I didn't mention that I live in MA (Metrowest). Again, PM me if you want me to poke around for ya.

    J.Dowse Stone beer ???

Mike- Sorry if this is a duplicate post. I live in MA (Boston burbs) and there is a family by that name that has been in the same town for generations. If you want, you can PM me and I can tell you more. I might also be able to ask the family if they had a relative with that initial in the...

    Do You Keep the Shards??

I do now. Never kept shards as a kid (30-some yrs ago), but I wish I did. They're interesting and remind me of what else is out there (or machochistically, of what I almost found). I also didn't know you could glue pieces together--I once found a beatiful turn mold wine that had rolled...

    Farm dump--old stuff under new?

Question for you fellow farm dump scratchers--I've dug a bunch but have never found good, old glass under a TOC dump. I've found many TOC dumps and many old dumps, but never together. many times, I've found an old one quite close to a TOC. Not sure why that would be--it would be easiest just...
