    The Beach, Again...

A ridiculously warm Sunday morning in December with no dig scheduled...what to do? Decided to head back to the beach & see what surfaced since the ice carried all the summer silt away. Hard to believe the rural looking path to the beach below was a hard core urban industrial zone as recently as...

32 oz. Diamond label ACL Pepsi

Came across this quart diamond label ACL no return Pepsi at a yard sale this morning - don't recall aver having seen one before. Not really my collecting area, is it rare, or just something sort of common I haven't encountered for whatever reason?

    Pontil Dyottville squat

Have a mid-late 1840's era Dyottville Glassworks squat from the epic Philly dig a couple weeks ago, thought I would post it here instead of the bay to give the members here first dibs. Nice chunky fat boy, crude, whittled, and reasonably clear embossing for a Dyottville. No damage except a tiny...

    A dippy day

Got out again this weekend, went back to where we dug the 'not wet' brick cylinders last week, hoping for more good holes. Any hole at all proved elusive for a while, though. Finally figured out why, not everyone on the block had a brick hole. Found a woodliner after a lot of test holes...

    The wet hole that wasn't

Decided to go up to the city for a little digging Sunday, got about halfway there when the van threw the serpentine belt, not good. Trying to put one of those things back on is a major pain in the butt, but after twenty minutes or so of annoyance I got it back on and was back underway, although...

    Quick Easter dig

Had a couple hours Easter morning to go dig before all the family stuff started, so decided to poke around the 50's dump a little since it's nearby. I booted this Ballantine can out of the way while walking in, then realized it didn't quite look right. I think they were sampling the product at...

A few hours at the farm

Was a nice day, decided to go waste a few hours at one of the pig farm dumps. Hadn't dug in this one for a while, it's not the oldest thing out there but has a lot of quantity. The woods are still nice and clear, no mosquitos yet, either...

    A random sort of day...

Went out last weekend with no particular destination in mind, just a random cruise of possibly diggable spots. First stop was the beach; alas I timed it wrong, the tide was already coming in...

    Wheelbarrows and Chug a Mugs

There's this big 1950's dump I've been digging off and on for several months now - it's sort of a fallback when there's nothing more promising afoot, it's close to home, I've got permission to crater the place, and despite the lack of age some cool stuff has come out of it - I'm not going to go...

    Crusty old battery caps

One of the dumps I visit from time to time has a section I never bothered to dig in because it was just all broken up 1940's (or older) era battery boxes from old cars, no bottles at all. Was passing through there on my way to the worthwhile part of the dump recently when I noticed a big chunk...

    Sweetie 1/2 gallon party jug

Came across this predecessor of the modern 2 liter soda bottle, an ACL Sweetie 1/2 gallon from the early 1950's (I think), biggest ACL soda I've ever seen. I know the smaller size Sweeties are fairly common, I've dug lots of them, but not this guy. Anybody know anything about them - are they...

    Another day at the beach

Had to go back to the beach to see how things looked after all the storms...

    Picnic Park Dairy

Does anybody know where this one's from? Teens era pint I picked up at a show years ago, but I've never been able to track down the dairy. Got it in New Jersey, so might be from somewhere nearby, but then again...

    Back to the beach

Went back down to the riverfront a couple weeks back...beach has silted up from the warm weather and the tide didn't go out very far, so prospects for finding bottles weren't too good...

    Van Beil's Rye & Rock

Two questions - where's it from, and is it a liquor or a med? looks 1890ish...

    Cabinet Whiskey Identified

Found two of these whiskeys in the attic of a house that was being demo'd a few years back... cool label, hand finished bottles. but no embossing or indication of who made it, leaving the 'bottled by' space blank was particularly annoying. Was going to post it here but never got around to it...

    Aumack's Apple Ginger

Applied top sort of Saratoga-y looking bottle embossed Aumack's Apple Ginger - anyone know anything about this one, like where it's from (was dug in NJ), or rarity?

    The crusty house quick dig

Was going to do some privy digging Sunday, but no one else was availible, so decided to scout future dig sites instead. Came across this crusty old thing, sort of overgrown but the privy ought to be findable. When I came around the other side, noticed the door was gone, couldn't resist a quick...

    Pontil Dr. Cordak?

Found this hunk of an early pontil med, enbossed 'BY / DR. CORDAK / ONLY //JELLY OF / -MEGANATE / -PARATE". Looks like 1830's era, odd rounded sides, anyone ever seen a whole one or know what the full embossing is or where it's from?

    Taylor's Myrtle Pomade Lid Philadelphia

Dug this lid (and its plain base) a while back - anyone ever heard of this one?
