That Russian bottle really is an incredible shard. It would be great to find another piece to unlock it's mystery. An unlisted/unknown bottle is very special indeed. Beautiful looking piece of glass!

I would guess the reason Matt has not gone back to the site yet is because his digging partner has a busy work schedual and can only dig on certain days and matt is being a good diggin buddie and waiting for his diggin buddie instead of going back digging up all those stoddard beuties by him self. That is what my instinks are telling me anyway

I found an 1842 reference to Russian Oil of Bark for renovating leather. It was made by George Peck & Co. of Fairfield, Conn.

If the embossing is relatively centered it could be Russian Oil of Baku.

In 1842 a T P Merriam claimed to have invented it in New Bedford Mass...
